A date with the night animals!

Night Safari - a TOURIST attraction. Obviously! just look at the price they charge:
entrance fee - $22 (adult) $11 (child)
tram ride - $10 (additional) - *HIGHLY recommended*

Anyway, despite the exorbitant price, my friends (Wendy & Calida) and i still went ahead and showed our support for our dear local Night Safari! (But I must admit that we went greatly due to the fact that we can get 50% off the entrance fee haha).

After a 30s consideration, we decided to just take the *highly recommended* tram ride. These are the times when i would really applaud the Singapore Tourism Board (or whoever's in-charged of night safari). It is actually splitted into tram paths and foot trails, meaning you won't get to see majority of the animals if you don't take the tram ride (meaning you are somehow tricked/forced/strongly encouraged/enticed to take the tram ride!)

Not that i'm complaining, I was in fact quite glad that we took the tram (what are the chances that i'll go again in the near future). It was really quite an amazing experience to see the animals up close. A group of samba deers was just less than 10cm from me as our tram passes them! More magnificant animals such as the I'm-the-king-of-the-world-lions, tigers, leopards, giraffs, elephants, etc, were witnessed right before our eyes as well!

Some random photos which we took:

On the not-so-happy part of the tram ride, due to the presence of some inconsiderate tourists, it made me wonder why can't they understand simple english (or is it simply because they don't understand english at all)? They were just so desperate and excited to take photos and insisted to have the flash on, despite being clearly told not to do so as that will harm the night animals! Oh wells, this is just one of the ugly and selfish sides of people (how i wish i can push them off the tram.. ok just kidding.. haha)

One special mention will be the show of the night creatures at the outdoor amphitheatre. Although there were some hiccups during the course of the performance (such as the owl refusing to fly and flying in the wrong direction), it was overall an enjoyable performance put up by the animals. An unexpected disappearance of Maggie (a reticulated python) injected lots of anxiety in the audience and instantly created a small commotion among them! Luckily, it was merely a staged performace (phew!). Maggie was found under one of the seats and nobody was hurt definitely (duh!). Last but not least, 3 adorable otters made their appearances as well (a pity that i can't take photos of them).

Luckily, we still managed to capture some shots using Wendy's camera!

How can we missed out on Ben & Jerry's ice-cream? We grab some on our way out of course! haha.. only to realise that we had already missed the last bus to cck and had to cab home in the end. It was definitely a costly nights-out, but i definitely enjoyed the company of my friends (and animals)! :)

Embarrassment vs Joy

Have you ever felt so embarrassed that you feel like digging a hole and jumping into it?
I did. Thanks to my mum.

I was out with my mum today, nothing much other than the usual shopping around until she suddenly mentioned that she needs me to photocopy my student card. However, I seriously cannot think of any place in far east which provides photocopy services. I told her that i'll do it tomorrow but she insisted that she want to have it today. So, seeing that she was soooo desperate to get it photocopied, we decided to try our luck at the remote parts of far east. (For those who seldom go to the "back alley" of level 3 and 4 of far east plaza, there are some massage parlors, tattoo parlors and pubs, etc).

As we walked down, my mum exclaimed all of a sudden, "There's a machine there!" and she pointed into a tattoo parlor. i looked in and at that instance, at least 6 pairs of eyes looked back at us. One of the guys (with lots of tatoo all over his body) got my mum's intention and walked over to some guy over the counter, whispered something in his ear and came back to us.
I was still quite bewildered with whatever that was going on and i asked my mum," You haven't asked them how much do they charged". That tatooed-guy then replied, "Oh, It's free-of charge". And i stupidly commented, "Huh, really?" He replied, "Ya, really." So i took out my card and passed it to him (still bewildered).

The best thing is he actually asked whether i wanted to photocopied 1 or 2 sides! (must really applaude him for the good "service"). The others in the shop started giggling and someone commented to the guy-over-the-counter that he could start providing photocopy service. A sudden realisation struck me at this point.

They definitely DON'T provide any photocopy service! Immediately, i turned around and walked away. TOTALLY embarrassed. My mum, still unaware that she just did a ridiculously thing, thanked that guy and happily followed behind me.

When i nagged at her for being so "throw-face", she retorted by saying, "don't worry, it's like that when you come out to society." i just gave a "i-can't believe-you-just-did-that-look" and didn't say anything. But, i thought, why would anyone who is already OUT in the society mistook a tatoo shop for a photocopy service shop?! my gosh!

Despite being so "paiseh-ed" by her, we went to had our dinner. Guess what? My mum stood in front of cinie's entrance (as she thought that it was the automatic sliding glass door) waiting for the (imaginary) "door" to open! wow! so that's how the chinese phrase "Zhi ma kai men" aka "open sesame" came about! (seriously can't blame her as she refused to wear spectacles despite her thousand plus degree).

However, do not mistaken that i was pissed at her or anything. I really felt that it was super hilarious and my sisters and I totally laughed our lungs out!

It was really fun going out with my family (especially when we don't go out often). Really had lots of fun despite all the embarrassments caused by my mum. It is a great enjoyment to think back and laugh at all those silly, innocent incidents. Don't you agree? :)

I'm here to blog! finally..

ahem.. test test..

I guess i must be one of those remaining rare people who don't blog. So here i am! joining the world of bloggers! I don't know about the rest of you, but i actually think that it's quite a weird feeling for a 1st time blogger to write here (especially with my sister starting at the screen while i'm typing! haha). However, i must admit that i was thrilled to see my own blog after i created this account. It's like wow! so that's how it feels like to own a blog! haha no wonder there are so many people all over the world owning blogs.
Shall keep my first post short and sweet! Hope that this will be a good channel to hold my memories!
Hi blogspot! :)
